Hi AKCP,
I see you have this Modbus Adapter in your price sheet and also the manual. Do I need this to connect my 3rd party Modbus devices to our SP2+ & SPX+ units?
Thank you,

Dear Valued AKCP Customer,
Thank you for your question on this and it is a good one.
No, you do not need the MOD-A Modbus adapter to connect your 3rd party Modbus devices to your SP+ units, it just makes it easier to convert the CAT5 RJ45 into a 2 wire cable.
You can take the CAT5 straight out to the Modbus device and use the correct pair of wires. CAT5 wire is quite thin and delicate and prone to breaking, so sometimes it is better to use the 2 wire cable instead.
The MOD-A is more of a convenience than anything else.
Also, please check our SP+ Modbus manual on our website support portal for more details on integrating your 3rd party Modbus devices or when connecting our AKCP power meters.
