Hello AKCP,
Where can I get all of the details regarding the installation setup and features on your APS software and the network ports used?
Thank you!

Dear AKCP Customer,
Thank you for your questions.
You can download the APS latest version of our manual from our website support portal here: https://www.akcp.com/support-center/customer-login/
You can also check the details by searching our online technical forum here: https://www.akcp.com/forum/
Regarding your questions on the network ports & communication between the APS and the SP+ units;
What ports need to be opened in order for my APS for it to communicate with the AKCP base units I will add? And also, what is the default SNMP community for my SP+ units? Also, our customer reports the communication is using port 80?
The default SP+ community is public, the port the APS uses to read the SP+ is 5000 and 161. The default WebUI port is 8080 but this can be overridden during setup or in the APS settings menu, or even in the ServerManager service.
If you suspect it’s using port 80 then it was a manual change by someone. Please verify the currently used service ports in the APS settings page (Settings / Services).
If you need to disable the unsecure HTTP port, first ensure that HTTPS is enabled and working BEFORE DISABLING HTTP! If you disable HTTP and HTTPS is not confirmed working, you will lose WebUI access.
We don’t see this as a “security issue” when the end user is freely able to reconfigure the WebUI service port to one of their liking, or even disable the unsecure HTTP.
ICMP (ping) has no concept of ports, as TCP and UDP do, but instead uses types and codes. It can be blocked if it’s a security requirement.
APS and the connected units will continue to work, although there could be some loss of monitoring functionality (for example the ping VS will stop working).
Generally, it should not affect the status reporting of monitored hosts, since that relies on TCP port 5000 (RPC). The SNMP service and port can also be disabled, if required.
APS communicates with AKCP devices using the RPC port 5000 only (except for the legacy sensorProbe which still requires SNMP).
Disallowing SNMP will just have an effect that third-party devices which require SNMP for communication will cease to work.
However, it’s important to note that when adding AKCP devices to the APS, the SNMPv1 write community parameter is used for that – even if SNMPv1 is disabled.
This SNMPv1 write community password parameter of the unit will be checked over the RPC port, not SNMP. The default is “public” as was noted above.
We hope that this will help with your questions. Please always contact our support team if you need further assistance.
Best regards,
