Dear AKCP Dealer,

Thank you for your question. This really depends on the number of devices, sensors, cameras etc connected to the APS installation.

However, for the hardware specifications, we would recommend these:

– Any modern-day CPU with 2 cores (APS only uses 1 but Windows works faster with 2) – this is especially important if you want to enable lots of sensor graphs, as antivirus scanners are known to cause a very high CPU load and APS slowdown if only 1 core is assigned.

– At least 8 GB RAM (for the sake of using a modern Windows version; APS itself will not use more than 200-500 MB).

– 100 GB storage space on drive C: (again for Windows and its updates, APS uses about 1 GB).

– Supported Windows OS (Win10, Win11, Server 2019, Server 2022)

APS will run on any Windows version that still supports running 32-bit applications (x86) and has a full graphical GUI. So excluding the Core Server editions (which only have command-line UI), it will run on all.

We are running the APS on Server 2025 without any issues (Server 2012 – 2022 is also fine). It also runs well on Win 10 & Win 11.

– Regarding the system moving and other questions:

APS is licensed on the MAC address of the primary network card.
So for the license to be moved, the VM’s MAC address must be kept the same.
The OS can be reinstalled to a different version, it won’t affect APS (see above).

But the host monitoring and APS database is all IP address based, so the VM’s IP should also be kept the same for seamless migration.

If the APS VM’s IP is changed, it will lose connectivity to the devices/sensors currently online. These will need to be re-enabled and reconfigured, re-added to APS if the IP changes. The devices also store the APS fixed IP instead of a DNS name, so unfortunately FQDN naming will not work.

If the customer changes the IP address range on both the devices and APS, they will still need to be reconfigured manually as noted above.

We would recommend to add a secondary IP address to the APS instead (with the new IP range requirement), and keeping everything else to be the same on the monitored hosts, if possible.

Please also refer to the other Online Technical Forum posts relocating the APS licenses & APS license information.

Best regards,
