Hello AKCP Support Team,

We are encountering an issue with one of our SPX+ units regarding the 10x Dry Contacts IO module.

The Problem: The module is displayed as “Not Connected” in the web interface. Interestingly, the overview shows two entries for Module 1 with different IDs, both listed as disconnected:

  • Module 1 – 10x Dry Contacts IO (1D001484) -> Not Connected
  • Module 1 – 10x Dry Contacts IO (1D001395) -> Not Connected

Context:

  • Simple door sensors are connected to Ports 1 and 2.
  • We have a second SPX+ unit with an identical configuration where the module works perfectly.
    The only difference is the module ID.

System Details:

  • Product Name: SPX+ Gateway with Expansion
  • Product Code: SPX-U-M4G-D1
  • Firmware: SPX+ H7 1.0.6263

Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue?

Best regards, Dominik

Dear Dominik,

Thanks very much for letting us know on this issue you are having. We would need to know the following in order to assist you further;

Was there any voltage connected to the dry contact module? Other than the door sensors? We recommend using a multimeter to measure the voltage & current when the dry contact connections are triggered to the SPX+ dry contact module.

We have seen 90% of the issues with the dry contact modules are caused by customers accidentally connecting over voltage or unexpected voltage surges. Please see below for our engineers suggestions when ordering the SPX+ units with the DC modules.

Please try a factory reset using the reset button after creating a backup config file. Also create the support file prior to the factory reset and send this to us at support@akcp.com for further analysis. Please also include all of the original details you sent us above.

If you are not familiar with the above steps these are included in the SPX+ Introduction manual which can be downloaded from our website support portal here: https://forum.akcp.com/all-product-manuals/

Also, please include the MAC ID of this unit in your email to our AKCP support team as well and we will get this issue resolved as soon as possible.

Here below are some valuable tips from our engineers when selecting the dry contact module types when ordering your SPX+ units that will help reduce this accidental damage.

To help customers choose the right DC module for their needs, here are my recommendations:

– Isolated Dry Contacts: Choose this for safe general measurements with systems that have volt-free interfaces. This option provides proper isolation for safety.

– I/O Dry Contacts: Select this if you need to output dry contacts and also monitor volt-free interfaces, but without added circuit isolation.

– 20VDC Dry Contacts: Select this if you’re monitoring interfaces from other systems that output 5-20 VDC range.

Note: I renamed the “5VDC isolated dry contacts” to “Isolated dry contacts” to eliminate confusion.

Best regards,

AKCP Support Team
