Hello AKCP Team,
Our end customer had decided to upgrade, or migrate from their AKCPro Server installation to the Quicklime DCIM. Do you have the details and instructions for this?
Thank you in advance,
AKCP Dealer

Dear valued AKCP dealer,
Thank you for the question on this. Yes, we do have very specific information and the steps for upgrading, or migrating from the AKCPro Server software to the Quicklime DCIM.
Please also check the details in this forum on the operating systems that are supported, details on installing on VM’s and also the new licensing structure for the QL. These are easily found by running a search on each subject.
About APS -> QL migration:
You cannot install Quicklime (QL) next to an existing APS – it must be run on another VM or physical server, preferably Linux.
Note that QL cannot be installed on a Windows VM and the Windows version’s performance will be less than the Linux version’s even if it’s running on a physical hardware.
If you must use a VM, install the Linux QL on a VM with Ubuntu24 OS. (RHEL will also work).
However, you don’t need to shut down or uninstall the existing APS.
Set up QL on a new server, make sure both servers are up and running on the same network, then you can begin the migration process.
Log in to QL with the admin account, go to Server Settings / Migrate from Legacy Server and fill out the settings with the details to connect to the APS server.
Optionally provide the APS backup file, to be able to migrate workspaces for all user accounts.
The currently supported migration between APS and QL is limited to the following features ONLY:
1. sensorProbe+ H7 devices ONLY, and these must be running the latest firmware (currently 6299) BEFORE you start the migration, and all devices must be powered on and reachable over the network.
2. APS virtual sensors, with some limitations – for example no custom script virtual sensors as QL only supports JavaScript for custom scripting, no shell script.
3. Reports (limited to sensors that exist on the SP+H7 devices and APS only)
4. Notifications and actions, limited to sensors that exist on the SP+H7 devices and APS only – if there are sensors outside of this scope, those notifications will not work anymore unless you manually edit them.
5. Maps and RackMaps, Assets, with some limitations.
6. Workspaces, including workspaces from different user accounts, with some limitations (limited to sensors that exist on the SP+H7 devices and APS only) – to migrate workspaces for other users than “admin”, you need to provide an APS backup file.
7. Access Control settings (with SP+H7 and connected CCU devices only)
8. APS accounts (login users) and groups, with permissions – it is strongly advised that you review the group security permissions again after the migration, and note: all user accounts will need their password to be reset before using.
The following features and data WILL NOT BE MIGRATED:
1. Any existing graph data – graphing will restart in QL and you cannot import previous data; to save your previous graph records, you need to export them manually from the APS side (to CSV, Excel files or with the reports feature).
2. LDAP settings and users – however, after migration you can set up the LDAP connection again in QL.
3. Any devices that cannot communicate over MQTT – for example 3rd party Network Devices, Template Hosts, SEC5 devices, sensorProbe devices, older SP+ devices (F4, F7) – these devices will remain unavailable and unusable, but you can manually re-add the Template Hosts via template file after the migration (with some limitations, for example APS custom scripts will not work with the template file).
IMPORTANT: Any devices connecting to APS through VPN are not supported! Quicklime only supports MQTT communication.
Please let our team know if you have any further questions or issues by contacting support directly (support@akcp.com) for assistance and we will be happy to help you.
Best regards,
