How to send email via GSM modem connection on SPX+

Please see the step-by-step guide below for setting up email notifications via a GSM modem.

Step 1: Configure the SMTP Server

Set up the SMTP server settings required for your email notifications. Make sure the email account and SMTP details are working correctly before proceeding.

Step 2: Verify GSM Modem Detection

Before configuring the modem connection, check that the modem is properly detected.

Go to the About page and verify that the following details are displayed:

1. Modem IMEI Number: A unique serial number assigned to the modem.
2. Modem Version: LE20B01SIM7600G22_C

If these details are present, the modem has been successfully detected by the system.

Step 3: Configure the GSM Modem

Option A: Use GSM Modem as the Primary Internet Connection

Set the following:

1. Internet Connection Method: Dial Out Only
2. Connection Type: Always On
3. Enable: “Use GSM as default interface if it is connected”

Click Save.

After saving, verify that the modem is connected and ready for use:

1. Internet Connection Status: Connected
2. IP Address: Valid IP address assigned
3. SIM Status: Good and has available credits/data
4. Network Mode: LTE
5. Signal Level: Green status (e.g., around -65 dBm or better)

Option B: Use GSM Modem as a Backup Connection

Set the following:

1. Internet Connection Method: Dial Out if Ethernet Failed
2. Connection Type: Always On or On Demand
3. If you want GSM to be prioritized when available, enable “Use GSM as default interface if it is connected”

Step 4: Create the Email Action

Create a standard email notification action and configure the following:

1. Network Interface: GSM Modem
2. Complete the remaining email settings as required (recipient, subject, message, etc.)

Once the modem is connected and has an active data connection, email notifications will be be sent through the GSM network. If Ethernet is available and configured as the primary connection, the system will automatically use the available network based on your connection settings.
